delivery customization Challenges Solutions drive results Scale business delivery customization Challenges Solutions drive results Scale business delivery customization Challenges Solutions drive results Scale business delivery customization Challenges Solutions drive results Scale business Anua is a globally recognized Korean skincare brand known for its minimalist philosophy and focus on gentle yet effective formulations. Built on the idea of simplifying skincare routines, Anua develops products that deliver visible results while avoiding harsh or irritating components, making them suitable for sensitive skin types. Initially using a traditional full cart experience, Anua transitioned to iCart’s side cart solution in August 2025, to create a more seamless and engaging shopping journey. This shift allowed customers to easily explore complementary skincare products without disrupting their browsing flow, making it more intuitive to discover items that fit into a complete routine. By surfacing relevant recommendations directly within the cart, the brand enhanced product visibility across its range. Challenges Before implementing iCart’s side cart solution, Anua faced limitations with their existing full cart experience, which created friction in the customer journey. The traditional cart setup redirected users away from product pages, interrupting their browsing flow and reducing opportunities to explore additional products. As a skincare brand built around routines rather than single-item purchases, this made it difficult to effectively showcase complementary products and encourage customers to build complete regimens. Additionally, the lack of in-cart personalization and strategic upsell opportunities meant that customers were often unaware of related products that could enhance their skincare results. This limited the brand’s ability to increase average order value (AOV) and fully leverage its diverse product range. Anua needed a more dynamic and intuitive cart experience that could seamlessly introduce relevant recommendations while maintaining a smooth and engaging shopping journey. ❌ Cart Value Barriers Low average order value (AOV) due to single-item focus Most customers completed purchases with one primary product instead of building multi-step routines. Cart abandonment near shipping thresholds Customers were not clearly informed or motivated to reach free shipping or discount thresholds. Missed savings opportunities Customers were unaware of potential value in purchasing bundled routines or multiple complementary products. ❌ Absence of Progress-Based Incentives No free shipping or discount progress bar Customers were not motivated to increase their cart value due to lack of visible incentives. Missing tiered rewards system There were no structured milestones (e.g., “Spend more to unlock offers”), reducing upsell opportunities. ❌ Ineffective Cart UI/UX (Pre-Side Cart) Full-page cart disrupted shopping flowCustomers had to leave their browsing journey, increasing friction and drop-offs. No quick add/remove functionality Users couldn’t easily modify their cart or add suggested products without navigating away. Solution To overcome these challenges, Anua implemented iCart’s side cart solution to transform their traditional cart into a high-converting, interactive experience. By replacing the full-page cart with a seamless side cart, the brand ensured that customers could continue browsing while viewing their cart, significantly reducing friction in the shopping journey. Additionally, features like product recommendations & progress bars for free shipping and discounts motivated customers to increase their cart value. By combining personalization, incentive-driven messaging, and a user-friendly interface, Anua successfully turned their cart into a powerful revenue-driving touchpoint rather than just a checkout step. To maximize their cart effectiveness, they implemented two powerful features: ✅ Progress Bar with Multi-Reward Incentives Implemented a tiered progress bar to encourage higher cart value Customers are guided with a clear message like “Add $3.10 to unlock secret offer,” motivating them to continue adding products. Generated over $5M+ in revenue through incentive-driven cart progression Used product-based rewards to align with customer intent Instead of generic discounts, Anua incentivized purchases with relevant skincare items like Dark Spot Pads and mini serums. Built visual motivation for routine expansion As customers add products, they can clearly track progress toward unlocking multiple rewards, encouraging them to build a complete skincare routine. ✅ Product Recommendations Implemented “Frequently Bought Together” recommendations Customers adding a single product (e.g., toner) are shown complementary items like serums, moisturizers, or pads to complete their routine. Generated over 275K revenue through in-cart recommendations Encouraged full skincare regimen building Instead of isolated purchases, the cart suggests step-by-step product combinations aligned with common skincare routines. Increased product discovery at the final stage By surfacing relevant items directly in the cart, Anua ensured customers explore more of their catalog without leaving the checkout flow. Results Achieved in Last 180 Days 22932 Total Store Orders 45101 Total iCart Orders 5X iCart Generated AOV 65.70% Upsell Affected Conversion Rate These improvements reflect a clear shift in customer behavior on Anua’s store. Cart abandonment reduced as shoppers discovered complementary skincare products and felt encouraged to build complete routines. Engagement also increased, with customers interacting more with in-cart recommendations and exploring relevant product pairings. Results & Impact And...Results is Our Main Clarification By implementing iCart’s cart drawer, product recommendations, and progress bar, Anua transformed its cart into a high-performing conversion touchpoint. Shopping Experience Enhancement The improved cart experience encouraged customers to discover complementary products and understand the value of sustainable beauty routines. For instance, the clear presentation of subscription savings alongside one-time purchase options helped customers make more informed decisions about their long-term hair care needs. As Anua continues to optimize its cart experience, the brand is closely monitoring: Routine-based purchasing behavior - tracking how customers move from single items to multi-step regimens Engagement with in-cart recommendations - measuring interaction with suggested products Cart value progression - analyzing how incentives influence higher spending [related_cases_slider] Ready to Write Your Success Story? Metafields List in Shopify Shopify now allows metafields to store multiple values instead of just a single value, making it easier to manage product attributes, custom data, and references. However, not all content types support this feature. Supported Content Types for Metafield Lists The following content types in Shopify metafields support list values: Color – Store multiple color options for a product. Date / Date & Time – Track multiple important dates related to a product or order. Dimension – Store multiple measurements (e.g., length, width, height). Weight – List different weight options for a product. Volume – Store multiple volume-related attributes. Number – Save a list of numerical values (e.g., multiple sizes). Rating – Store various rating values for a product. Product Reference – Link multiple related products in a single metafield. File Reference – Store multiple files like PDFs, images, or manuals. Page Reference – Reference multiple pages within a metafield. URL – Store multiple external or internal links. Text – Add a list of text values for product descriptions, tags, or attributes. Shopify Metafield Limit Shopify currently allows up to 200 metafield definitions per store. Initially, the limit was 100, but Shopify has expanded it to 200. This limit is sufficient for most small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). However, if you operate a large store with an extensive inventory, you may need a third-party app like Flexi–Metafield Custom Field to manage and store additional metafields. Using Metafields and Metaobjects with Dynamic Sources Shopify's Online Store Editor now supports Market Metafields as a dynamic source. This update allows merchants to seamlessly integrate Market Metafields into their storefronts, enhancing customization and improving functionality for different markets. How to Use and Add Metafields in Shopify Looking to expand your store’s content? With Shopify’s built-in Metafields, you can easily add and customize metafields to display additional information anywhere in your store. Creating Shopify 2.0 Metafields To set up metafields, you must first decide on metafield definitions, add values, and map them according to your store’s data structure. Shopify supports various metafield types, including: Product metafields Variant metafields Collection metafields Customer metafields Order metafields Defining Shopify 2.0 Metafields A metafield definition creates an attribute with a specific value type, ensuring consistency across your store. These values can be in different formats, such as: Text (e.g., product descriptions) Numbers (e.g., weight, dimensions) Images (e.g., product photos, badges) Links (e.g., external pages, downloads) Date & Time (e.g., order dates, expiration dates) Types of Metafield Definitions in Shopify Standard Metafield Definitions Shopify provides pre-built metafield definitions compatible with all Shopify apps, themes, and store settings. These are optimized for seamless integration and easier customization. Custom Metafield Definitions For more flexibility, store owners can create custom metafield definitions tailored to their needs. These custom metafields can be used anywhere in the store, such as displaying additional product details, order notes, or customer preferences. How to Delete Shopify 2.0 Metafields If a metafield is no longer needed, you can easily remove it from your Shopify store. Shopify provides two ways to delete metafields: Delete Definition and All Metafield Values This option removes the metafield and all its associated data from your store. Before choosing this option, ensure the metafield is not linked to any block or section in your theme to avoid errors. Delete Definition Only This option removes the metafield definition but keeps its values in your store. If the metafield is still referenced in your theme, it may cause errors in the theme editor. If you face any other error with metafields in your Shopify store, you may find the solution in the fixing metafield errors guide, or you can find other ways to get help for the issues. Steps to Delete Metafields From your store Step 1: Open Metafields in Shopify Admin Log in to your Shopify Admin Panel. Navigate to Settings > Metafields. To change or update a Shopify theme without losing content, first duplicate your current theme as a backup. Go to Online Store > Themes and add the latest version or a new theme to your library, then transfer theme settings, custom code, app integrations, images, and layout changes. Preview the draft across desktop and mobile, test key store functions, and publish only after confirming everything works correctly. There is always something new in 'new versions' of Shopify themes, including bug fixes and new features. Updating the Shopify theme without losing data can feel tricky, especially if it’s your first time. Choosing the right theme is key for your business, as it shapes the entire customer experience. The themes I have customized for stores are always dynamic. Their appearance and functionality evolve with each time you add or remove any feature. In this guide, we will show you three simple methods to update and change Shopify themes without losing any of your customizations. What happens to your data when you change a Shopify theme? If you're trying to change your Shopify theme without losing data, know this: Your business data and your theme are stored separately in Shopify. Switching themes doesn't touch the data that actually runs your store. These will be safe no matter which theme you use: Products, variants, and inventory Collections Customer accounts and order history Pages and blog posts Navigation menus Checkout, payment, and shipping settings What can actually be affected by a theme change: Customizations made inside the old theme's editor (colors, layout, section settings) Direct code edits to theme files (Liquid, CSS, JS) Apps that inject code straight into theme files instead of using app blocks How to change Shopify theme without losing data? (Using theme store) Step 1: Create a backup copy of your current theme. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes. For the theme that you want to duplicate, click Actions > Duplicate. This will create a new theme backup of your current theme. Step 2: Visit the Shopify Theme Store Scroll down to the ‘Discover themes’ section and click on Visit Theme Store. Step 3: Search and add your theme Browse the theme you want to add. Select the theme and click on Try Theme This theme will now appear as an unpublished draft. Step 4: Customize & preview your theme Next customize your theme by clicking on the Edit Theme button. Here you can customize the layout, colors, and font that match your business. You can also navigate to the three dots icon and click on Edit code to add custom code to your theme. Note: Changes added to custom code must be manually applied to the new theme. Once you have customized your theme, click on the three dots icon again and preview your theme. Check all your pages like a customer to make sure all changes are correct. Step 5: Publish your theme Once you have verified all the changes, you can publish your theme. You need to buy a paid theme before publishing it. Free themes like Dawn can be published as is. Does Shopify ever update my theme automatically? Yes, but only in a limited way. If your theme was installed from the Shopify Theme Store, Shopify occasionally pushes automatic patches to fix bugs or close security gaps. When this happens, you'll see a notification in place of the version number in your admin. You can check exactly what changed from the theme's status dialog. These patches never touch your design, content, or settings. They're strictly bug and security fixes. Automatic updates aren't available for every theme, though: Uploaded themes (instead of installed from the Theme Store) don't get automatic updates at all. If you bought a theme from the Theme Store and later uploaded it to a different store, it's treated as unlicensed there and won't be eligible for updates until it's repurchased for that store. Theme Store licenses are tied to one store. Themes bought from a designer outside the Theme Store need to go through that designer for updates. Vintage themes that use the original architecture by Shopify no longer receive updates of any kind, automatic or otherwise. Wrapping up Updating your Shopify theme is safest when you test the new version as a draft before publishing it immediately. Preview every important page, test key store functions, and confirm that your sections, app integrations, and templates still work correctly. Because custom Liquid, CSS, and other code changes may not transfer automatically, review them carefully before going live. Keep your previous theme as a backup so you can quickly restore it if the updated version causes any unexpected issues. FAQs 1. Can I change my Shopify theme without losing content? Yes. Products, collections, navigation menus, pages, and blog posts are managed separately in Shopify Admin. They are not deleted when you publish a different theme. However, theme-specific sections, blocks, fonts, colors, templates, wording, app-generated code, and custom code need to be recreated or transferred. 2. How to change Shopify theme without losing content? Add the new theme to Online Store > Themes as a draft, then customize and preview it without affecting your live store. Check your homepage, product and collection templates, navigation, search, cart, app widgets, tracking, and mobile layout before publishing, while keeping the previous theme available as a backup. 3. Does changing Shopify theme affect SEO? Changing themes does not delete your products, pages, URLs, or other admin-managed content. Shopify continues to generate features such as canonical tags, sitemaps, robots.txt files, and SSL certificates. However, a new theme can affect SEO through changes to page speed, headings, internal links, structured data, image handling, or custom title-tag code. Audit the draft theme before publishing. 4. How to upgrade Shopify theme? Go to Online Store > Themes and click the theme’s version number or update notification, then select Add to draft themes. Shopify attempts to transfer theme-editor customizations and compatible code changes, but you should review the updated copy, test app functionality and custom CSS, and publish it only after confirming everything works correctly. 5. How to change Shopify theme without losing customization? When updating to a newer version of the same theme, Shopify can copy theme settings, layouts, sections, blocks, templates, app extensions, and language-editor changes into the updated draft. When moving to a completely different theme, these customizations generally do not transfer automatically. Document your settings, back up custom code, and manually rebuild and test them in the new theme. 6. How do I select a Shopify theme? Choose a theme based on your catalog size, industry, merchandising needs, navigation structure, and required features. These features include product filtering, quick buy, related products, video, or sticky navigation. Use the Shopify Theme Store’s industry and feature filters, then add or try the theme as a draft and preview its product pages, collections, cart, mobile experience, and customization options before purchasing or publishing it.
